Working From Home? 4 Tips To Stay Productive
This is the new normal for now. A lot of us are struggling with the changes that are happening ever since the Pandemic was announced more than a month ago. Staying home is the most important choice we have to make to fight back against this disease and now we have to make the best of our current situation.
Almost everyone who can is working from home (including our staff here at Jed North) and from our experience, we want to give you effective tips on how you can stay productive. These are simple, actionable things that you can do to make sure you don’t lose focus during work.
Establish a Schedule
Keep yourself on track by creating a schedule for yourself to follow. When you have things you want to get done during the day, having a schedule will let you remember what you need to do so you don’t end up endlessly scrolling through TikTok for 2 hours.
Set a consistent wake-up time that you follow each day and start off the day right by following your normal routine of making the bed, brushing teeth, having your breakfast.
Have a general routine of when you work, what time you end, when you exercise, when you eat, when you have free time and what time you go to bed. Don’t aimlessly go about your day as you will end up staying on the couch watching Netflix and not remembering what day it is.
Specific Work Spaces
Organize your day and your mind by having designated workspace. Doing work-related tasks while you’re in bed won’t be effective as your body will think it’s time to sleep. Set out specific spaces that you reserve to doing important tasks so your mind knows when it’s time to focus and when to relax. Go to your desk when it’s time to work and only when you work and you will find that your body will naturally go into productivity mode.
You also don’t need a separate room to do this, you can make do with a desk in the corner of the room. Entering and exiting this workplace will give you the proper ‘on’ and ‘off’ switch that you will need so you can do what you need to do when it's time to and disengage when it’s time to relax.
Get Dressed
As much as the idea of staying in your pajamas the whole day sounds appealing, it gets old very fast and you will find yourself not being as productive. The act of changing clothes, even to something just casual, will serve as a signal that it’s time to wake up and tackle the day.
We know you miss the gym, we do too. But when it’s time to workout, change into your best Jed North gear and feel motivated to get your heart rate up. We guarantee you that it will be a good workout. When you’re dressed the part, you feel the part.
Self- Care
Just because you’re at home, does not necessarily mean you are taking the time to relax and self-care. We are in a stressful time and it’s easy to get sucked into the news or the expectations that we must be always productive. Make sure to take time to do things that you love and to take this opportunity to give time to yourself as you may not have it again in the future.
Do what makes you happy and make sure to meditate, treat yourself, and most importantly keep communicating. Reach out to your family and friends and make sure you get your fill of socializing. Grow those connections despite the physical barriers.
Take advantage of our deals and treat yourself to some new clothes to motivate you with your workout.
With these simple, actionable tips, you’ll find that working from home doesn’t sound as difficult as it is.
